Stuffed animals have no corners. That's the whole problem.
Wrapping paper is designed for boxes — flat planes and sharp edges to fold against. A plush toy has neither, so the paper bunches, the tape pulls, and you end up with something lumpier than what you started with.
The fix usually isn't more skill. It's picking a method suited to a soft, round object instead of fighting one built for boxes. Here are seven ways to gift wrap a stuffed animal, from the easiest to the most impressive.
1. DIY gift bag
Using a gift bag is the easiest option, although sometimes it can be difficult to find one that matches our taste or where the plush toy can fit.
In this case, it's better to create a custom bag using wrapping paper. It's perfect because you can choose the design that suits the person best, and you don't need to be a DIY expert to do it. And, if the stuffed toy is too big, you can use oversized wrapping paper.
Just follow the next steps:

Measure the wrapping paper to fit around the stuffed animal, leaving enough excess at the top and bottom. Use paper at least twice the width of the toy — running short is what makes the seams strain.

Fold the edges of the paper inward and tape them together.

Create the base of the bag by folding the bottom edge into a diamond shape, then fold and tape the corners tightly.

Place the stuffed animal inside.

Fold down the top edge neatly and secure it with tape or a ribbon.

2. Balloon (Pop Me) wrap
If you want to give a double surprise, place the plushie inside a large balloon. It's better if the balloon is opaque so they can't see what's inside.
This method is great because it adds excitement to the gift, and popping the balloon is half the fun. If you're not bothered by cleaning up afterwards, add confetti for a magical touch.
You need a balloon larger than the stuffed animal — a 24-inch balloon fits most small and medium plush. Insert the toy carefully by stretching the opening, then inflate with a pump. Inflating by mouth once the toy is inside almost never works. Tie it off with a knot and add a ribbon or card for decoration.
3. Cellophane wrap
The balloon method hides the plushie completely. If you'd rather showcase it, cellophane is the answer.
With this method you display the toy while adding a decorative flair, and the process is very simple.
Look for cellophane with a cute or fun pattern, big enough to cover the plushie, and place the toy in the center of it. You could set it inside a basket or a box first, if you prefer.
Then wrap the plushie with neat folds, gathering all the edges at the top. Tie it off with a ribbon for an elegant finish.
4. Candy style wrap
For long or cylindrical stuffed toys, the candy style wrap works perfectly and adds a bit of creativity. It can be adapted to any shape, so don't limit yourself.
Lay out enough wrapping paper to cover the stuffed animal completely, place the toy in the center, and roll it up.
Twist both ends tightly to create the candy shape and tie each end with ribbon. Leave at least six inches of spare paper at each end for the twists — not leaving enough is the most common mistake with this method. Done properly, nobody can guess what's inside just by looking.
5. Blanket wrap
If you don't want to use traditional wrapping paper, a soft blanket or a cozy piece of fabric gives the gift an extra warmth.
It works as a 2-in-1 gift, since you can use a blanket made from plush material — although we know the plushie is what they'll notice first.
Lay the blanket on a flat surface and place the stuffed animal in the center. Gather all the edges around the toy and secure them with a ribbon at the top.

Grab a piece of festive paper large enough to cover the stuffed animal and lay it on a flat surface. Use roughly double what you think you need — that single change fixes most wrinkling.
Place the stuffed animal in the center, fold one side over it, then the other, and secure with tape. At the ends, make a few small folds to close it and tape those too.
Reach for washi or masking tape rather than clear tape. Clear tape tears the paper the moment you try to reposition it, and with a shape this awkward you will reposition it.
Finish with bows or ribbons if you want to make it more special.
No gift bag? No problem
Wrapping a stuffed animal is a puzzle, but there are plenty of ways to solve it.
